Music Lessons
At Takoma Music School, we’re committed to creating a consistent, supportive, and enriching musical environment.
Enrollment in lessons signifies your agreement with the policies below.
Lesson Packages & Pricing
TMS uses a 4-week billing cycle (every 28 days).
Intro Lessons (One-Off Trial Sessions)
Before committing to a 4-week lesson package, new students can book a one-off Intro Lesson with one of our instructors.
Intro Lesson Rates:
30-minute Intro Lesson: $50
45-minute Intro Lesson: $60
You are welcome to book an Intro Lesson with any available instructor before deciding on a regular weekly or bi-weekly schedule.
Weekly Lessons
30-minute lessons: $210 per 4-week cycle
45-minute lessons: $280 per 4-week cycle
Bi-Weekly Lessons
45-minute lessons: $160 per cycle (2 lessons per cycle)
All lessons occur at a consistent weekly or bi-weekly time.
Billing & Payments
Billing renews automatically every 28 days.
Billing continues until you request cancellation in writing to info@takomamusicschool.com
Tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance.
Payments more than 10 days late incur a $20 late fee.
Credit card payments may include a 3% processing fee.
No partial refunds are offered once a billing cycle has begun.
All billing or account questions should be sent to: info@takomamusicschool.com
Canceling or Rescheduling a Lesson
Early Cancel (24+ hours before lesson time)
Generates one lesson credit that can be rescheduled
Credit is valid for 90 days
May be used with your instructor or another TMS instructor (based on availability)
Late Cancel (less than 24 hours) or No-Show
Lesson is forfeited
No credit is issued
If TMS Cancels
If a substitute is not available, your account will be credited appropriately, and you will not be charged for the missed lesson.
Lesson Credits
Credits expire 90 days after they are issued.
Credits do not reduce or pause billing.
Credits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Credits have no cash value.
Releasing Lesson Time Slots
If a student cancels three consecutive lessons, their recurring lesson time may be offered to another student.
Pausing Lessons
If you’d like to retain your regular lesson time while taking a short break:
A $100 lesson-hold fee applies per 4-week cycle.
A hold reserves your lesson slot for up to 4 consecutive weeks.
Billing resumes automatically at the end of the hold period unless cancellation is requested.
Substitute Teachers
Substitute instructors are a regular part of TMS programming.
If your instructor is unavailable, TMS will provide a qualified substitute.
Substitute lessons follow the same Early/Late Cancel policies.
School Closures
If TMS closes due to:
Weather
Holidays
Facility issues
Your lesson will be credited or rescheduled, and families will be notified as early as possible.
Ending Your Lesson Subscription
To cancel:
Email info@takomamusicschool.com at least 7 days before your next billing date.
If notice is given 7+ days in advance, your plan ends at the end of the current billing cycle.
If notice is given fewer than 7 days before the billing date:
One final 4-week cycle will be billed.
Lessons continue normally during that final cycle.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of that cycle.
During the final billed cycle:
Early Cancels still generate credits.
Credits may be used for 90 days, even after your plan ends.
Unused lessons from the final cycle are not refunded.
TMS reserves the right to cancel a student’s lesson plan when necessary. Prepaid unused lessons will be credited or refunded.
Behavior Expectations
To maintain a safe and supportive lesson environment:
Students and families must communicate respectfully with instructors and staff.
Instructors may end a lesson early if a student is unsafe, destructive, or refusing instruction (these count as completed lessons).
TMS may discontinue lessons for repeated behavioral concerns.
