Piano

Cassidy Mayberry is a classically trained pianist and dedicated music educator offering piano lessons for children, teens, and adults at Takoma Music School. Originally from The Woodlands, Texas, Cassidy brings over 16 years of piano and music theory training to her teaching, drawing from her experience working closely with a single highly skilled private instructor who shaped her strong musical foundation.

Teaching Style & Approach

Cassidy believes that learning piano should be both joyful and empowering. She helps students build solid technique, understand musical structure, and develop confidence through consistent, personalized instruction. Her teaching is especially welcoming for:

  • Beginner and intermediate piano students

  • Students looking to strengthen music theory skills

  • Young musicians developing strong practice habits

  • Classical piano learners

Her goal is to nurture curiosity—just as her own piano journey began—while supporting each student in reaching their musical goals.

Musical Training & Background

Cassidy grew up immersed in classical piano, eventually attending the Texas State International Piano Festival multiple times. There, she performed for adjudicators and earned strong ratings that recognized her commitment to musicianship and performance.

In addition to piano, Cassidy spent many years performing in her school’s concert band program, where she played:

  • Clarinet (4 years)

  • Bass clarinet (2 years)

She also performed in regional band ensembles and participated in a summer program at Baylor University, where she played in a concert band alongside young musicians from across Texas.

Why She Teaches

Cassidy’s extensive experience across piano, concert band, and music theory deeply informs her teaching philosophy. Her passion for music—and the transformative role her own teacher played in her life—inspired her to become a piano instructor. Today, she is committed to helping students of all ages discover the excitement of learning piano and building a lasting relationship with music.
