Amal Handley is a Washington, DC-based music producer, DJ, and founder of the label Hochi Runs. As an instructor at Takoma Music School, he brings expertise in music production, DJing, and the underground electronic music scene. Known for blending techno, house, and club styles, Amal is one-third of the genre-pushing group Black Rave Culture. His sound has earned recognition from artists like Bicep, Sherelle, and Yaeji, as well as international airplay on BBC Radio and features in DJ Mag's Top Albums of 2022.
Amal’s music production credits include collaborations with DC rapper Wifigawd (praised by Pitchfork), remixes for Ohm Unit and James Bangura, and original scores for global brands like Asics. He’s performed at major festivals and venues including Boiler Room, Dweller, Movement Detroit, and Amsterdam Dance Event.
